Music is magic. Music is life.

It looks better upside down somehow...
This is my homage to music. The savior of life. The conjurer of magic.
I've been feeling terribly blue lately, due to things that I shall not disclose, but music makes it better.
I didn't intend for the hair to look so much like a headdress... but I guess that's the magic? The music is from my favourite songs: Snow Patrol's Make This Go On Forever and Kaleo's Way Down We Go. Both incredibly moving.
I can't ever get enough of it.

Everything's Alright

The platypus.

I'm at a loss for words of how much this story touched me. I got this video game the other day, and it is called To the Moon. The trailer had already forewarned me of its potentially heart-wrenching, melancholic contents. And I deliberated for a while, on whether to get it or not. In the end, I gave into it... Why not?

At first I thought the trailer had lied, because sometimes video game trailers can be misleading *cough*Dead Island*cough*... Because this game started out in a very silly way and the dialogue is very, very comical and cheesy and didn't inspire much confidence. And I thought to myself, "Really? Is this really how the game is going to go?"

Thankfully, that wasn't so.
Those humorous aspects had to be added in order for you to be able to play the game. Otherwise you'd just be constantly bawling your eyes out. I kid you not.

Anya, the lighthouse

There are these little puzzles you solve in the game to try to unravel more of the story. While I found that repetitive and easy, I also found that I can't wait to see where that memento would take me... You want to know. You care..... The story is not as simple as you'd think.

As you learn more and more, you, as a player start to realize that this story is alive, yet at the same time, not. The heart beats that occasionally plays in the background reminds you that this is just the dying wish of an old man, and that what he is wishing for, never actually existed... It causes you question life, to re-evaluate things.

 The ending is beautiful. Bittersweet.
The happy ending that never happened.
And with a twist.

The music is also wonderful in this game... That was an understatement.

I find it kind of strange to be writing a somewhat review-like thinger about a video game here. But I finished the game yesterday and I couldn't get it out of my mind. This is probably the game with the best storyline that I've ever played.

On Sound Waves

Each beat, a defibrillator to the heart,
Pulsating throughout my body to my fingertips
And I feel like I'm drowning in darkness,
Like I'm floating in air in slow time,
As I fall backwards down a cliff
And time and time again, rewinding each moment.
The five-lined staff, extending speedily, like
Fingers reaching out, curling up in my blood veins
Spreading my arms and leaves me dangling,
Like a puppet, like I'm leaping, free,
A brave trapeze artist, no reservation.
I'm rising and falling, like breaths,
Inspired and escaping,
Running on each line,
And stumbling over each note,
Like uncovered treasure, time and time again,
I'm lying on the clef,
Enveloped by time and oncoming sounds,
I'm carried away by sound waves
That leads to places I've never been,
To the same places I've been,
As it travels throughout my whole being.

My song, MTGOF, that I will never tire of listening to,
The one that evokes such ineffable feelings in me.

A Storm's Symphony

Crescendo
Forte, rage
Incessant pounding, strumming
All in unison
The rain marches on
Falling on tympani
The sound vibrations in the air
Like hands and fingertips
Enveloping and touching me
The way air does,
The way air courses through my body
I can feel my soul grow
Like soft, dangerous gray clouds
Like shadows on a sharp note
Like the lines running on and on
My heart beats to the crash of the cymbal
I'm washed by the wave of notes
My body in its command
Aye, I am music's puppet

His Trumpet

Every note that shoots out of that bell
Every sound he emits out of that brass
Makes my soul soar, high and higher.

His music
Is a spotlight
On darkest corners of my heart.

He is a magician,
Who turns ordinary air
Into something so extraordinary.

His music
Sets me free,
His music
Holds my mind hostage.

And when he hits
The highest possible note,
It's like fireworks,
It makes me feel
Like I'm riding on a shooting star,
To the edges of the universe unexplored.

Captured. Captivated. Allured. Entranced.
I'm possessed.

Of course, dedicated to Mr. Chris Botti. <3 br="br">

Drifting Along the Piano Notes

The staccato pounding of the bass keys
Luring me to melancholy.
As the hands drift over the each key
I felt my soul roll over the strings
Vibrating along with each finger press
And I feel the player's pain,
I feel the sadness denoted in the music,
I feel.

Lips, Fingers and Strings

Your tune carried me to places I've never been
Wondrous places with fantastic colours
Where words are painted up in the sky with a gleam
Though we were still in the parlour.

And you sang to me with your soothing voice
Your eyes sparkling like sapphires
You sir, you're unlike any other boys
When I was still burning, you put out the fire.

How do you lace your passion in your words?
Your fingertips like raindrops on strings
Nothing you say is untoward
Oh, the joy to my heart you bring...
